Day 3 ~ DIY Hong Kong & Macau trip 2016 (Ten Thousand Buddhas & Sham Shui Po)

by , in

Hello everyone! you're still with me on day 3 huh? thank you and welcome for the new ones. :)

We started our day with some fruits, tea and chocolates for me hehe!

This day is super funny because something happened that we didn't really expect. I'll tell you later so keep on reading. We're going to the Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery located in Sha Tin, Hong Kong so from Yau Ma Tei station, ride the MTR going to Kowloon Tong and then transfer to the train that goes to Sha Tin and the monastery is just a 5 minutes walk from the station.

The pathway going up to the monastery. It looks kind of sketchy at first but just keep on walking

Bring water because it's a lot of steps

Almost there...

We thought that these fellas are friendly and just wanting to have their picture taken...
...but they are not!

So here goes the story... Before going to the monastery, we bought breads at the station to eat while walking and I'm holding the plastic bag where the breads are. After we roam around, we took another path going down (seen on the 2 last pictures).

We see that there are monkeys on the trees and we thought that they are just friendly to go near us and have their pictures taken. Even the other tourist took a photo of them though I am very scared that I keep saying "ma wag na tayo dito" because one of the monkey keeps on following us but my mom insist that we should just continue because she thought that the monkeys are friendly.

After that we heard on the trees that there's a lot of monkeys around us already and you could hear their terrifying sound so we hurriedly continue to walk downstairs but they still keep on following us and I remember that maybe it's the food that they want so my mom says that I should just throw it and I did because i'm really scared that time haha!

They all went to the food after I throw it on the ground then after that they did not bother us anymore. Hahaha! so if you're planning on going to the monastery DO NOT BRING FOOD. After that terrifying encounter with the monkeys, we just ate at the restaurant nearby the station but I forgot the name and forgot to take photo of the foods because we're hungry and the monkey got our breads.

Day 1 ~ DIY Hong Kong & Macau trip 2016 (Ladies Market & Victoria Harbour)

 at Clark International Airport
Hello everyone! long time no see... uhmmm I mean no writing😁 so my mother and I took a vacation and went to Hong Kong and Macau last April. We booked a flight from Clark to Hong kong via Cebu Pacific for around Php4,800 each but sometimes cebpac offer lower rates though you need to check their websites frequently and book a flight months before your travel date so it will be much cheaper.

We arrive at Hong Kong International Airport around 8 or 9 in the morning. The weather is just right - I mean it's not hot but it's not cold either so It's nice to walk around and explore the city.
at Hong Kong International Airport

We purchase the Airport Express Travel Pass at the Customer Service Centre. It's a card that allows you to have any 3 consecutive days of unlimited travel on the MTR, Light Rail and MTR Bus (Northwest New Territories) (except additional travel on the Airport Express, East Rail Line First Class, and travel to/from Lo Wu or Lok Ma Chau stations. It's HKD250 for 1 ride and HKD350 for 2 ride. We choose the 1 ride - meaning from airport to the city only because we're exiting on Macau Airport.
It's a good deal 'coz if I'm not mistaken the price of the express train from airport to the city is HKD100 plus after you use the card (after 3days) then you can go to any customer service centre on any train stations, give back the card and they will refund you HKD50.

If you want, you can easily purchase it online as well here: Aiport Express Travel Pass. From Hong Kong Airport we ride the express train going to Central Station and walk to change train going to Yau Ma Tei station since Silka Seaview Hotel is just 2 or 3 streets away from that station.

After checking in to our hotel, we look for the nearby restaurant and ate first.
Noodles and Duck. yummm!

After eating, we then went to Ladies Market. It's just a 10 to 15 minutes walk from our hotel. It's basically like divisoria haha! a street market with lots of everything you need under the sun and moon. We just look around for something we could buy and we ended up buying a white shoes, some bags and a really really nice tea set. It's funny how foreigners also know how make "tawad" before buying.

😋😋😋
We had Nai Cha with ice cream on top and pizza after shopping
Btw, I also had my hair cut that day because my mom is super annoyed with my split ends 😅
It's expensive though considering how cheap it is to have a normal haircut in the Philippines lol! Most of the salons we saw are ranging around 100 to 150 HKD.
